What can I expect in a counselling session?
A session lasts 50 minutes,. Weekly sessions are generally recommended. Between sessions, clients are encouraged to think about and process what was discussed. At times we may agree to test out doing something specific outside of the therapy sessions, such as reading a relevant book or just noticing more consciously some of your patterns of behaviour or how you are responding to certain situations or relationships.

Counselling can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or explore ideas about the direction of a solution. The benefits you obtain from counselling depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn. Breaking familiar and often longstanding patterns of behaviour [even when they are dysfunctional] takes time and effort and is unlikely to be easy.
